It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
